Ideas for Opt-in Bait to Enhance Your Squeeze Page

Point #6 – Ideas for Opt-in Bait

Ideas for opt-in bait begin with one simple rule – keep the bait simple. We have established that you must keep your squeeze page simple – that also applies to the opt-in bait.  More is not better in this case. Don’t make the mistake of loading up your opt-in page with several freebies. All that does is dilutes your intent, confuses your visitors, and diminishes the number of people who opt-in.

In Point #4, we asked you to take the time to define the ideal candidate for your list.  Now, you must provide them with something they value and not a bucket load of extra bait – hoping they will bite. With multiple freebies offered, even if they choose to opt-in, you will not know why.  Did they opt-in for your main freebie or promise – or, did they opt-in to get all the additional goodies? Without that clarity the platform for relationship building will be wobbly. How do you build a relationship when you don’t know what piqued their interest?  Do you see how that complicates the message?

Ideas for freebies or incentives to offer on your squeeze page:

Physical Products

These are great for niches outside of internet marketing, but they can work for Internet Marketing, as well.

  • If you are a coach send out a CD/DVD, book or report.
  • In the pet niche?  How about a free pet id-tag, collar, or toys.
  • Offline businesses often give away magnets, calendars, pens/pencils, you name it.

Yes, there is an investment in the marketing collateral, BUT you also get the person’s REAL contact information including address and perhaps a phone number to go along with the email address. That is powerful!

Digital Products

  • Article or Report
  • Video
  • Subscription to a Newsletter/E-zine
  • E-course
  • E-book
  • Membership
  • Software

Teleseminar or Webinar

Webinars are a way to introduce powerful techniques with just enough left out of the message to encourage the listener/viewer to buy a product.  This is similar to some of the other offers; but, when someone takes time to attend an event, they are more inclined to purchase a product at the end of the class.

Personalized Coaching or Tutoring

This is more time consuming because it is one-on-one; but, it is a great way to build trusting relationships with your subscribers.  It is also more difficult for someone to say ‘no’ to an offer at the end of a personalized session.

Things to remember:

Give away something of VALUE to your prospect that will…

  • Truly help them
  • Prove your credibility
  • Build their trust
  • Leave them thirsting for more (so you can sell your product)
