Let Your Inner Child Out to Play (WAH Series)
More Hours Every Day
By working at home, you have added valuable time to your day. Just think about it!
- No Commute. You have 30 minutes to 2 or 3 hours extra time each day (depending on the distance of your commute). Plus time spent buying gas each week.
- No Perfecting Physical Appearance, packing lunch, gathering things for the day (briefcase, etc.) Add another 30/60 minutes each day.
Let’s say on average you now have between 60 to 90 minutes a day that could be used to move your body, which is going to be vital to your health. You don’t have to do it all at once. In fact, you should split up the new-found time and exercise throughout the day.
Sitting for long periods of time is not healthy, so get up out of your chair every hour, stretch, and spend sometime moving your body.
Use your new find extra hours to let your inner child out to play.
Exercise Can Be Fun
Throw on your roller-blades for a quick trip around the block; take a brisk walk to the local coffee shop for a nice cup of your favorite coffee; or hop on your bike and zip around trails near your home.
Maybe you prefer to stay indoors – that is OK, too! Turn on your TV and have fun using a dance video game like Dance Central. Or – use Wii Fit to move. There are also specific fitness video games you can purchase.

For the low-techies out there, put on your favorite rock and roll CD and dance around the house for 10-15 minutes. Do push-ups or jumping jacks, or even take up jump-rope on your patio.
Another option is to join a gym close to home and go there during off-hours when the rest of the world is involved in corporate responsibilities – and avoid the crowds.
Or – better yet, use that extra bedroom in your house to create your own mini-gym. Buy a treadmill on Craig’s list and start a walking regimen with music that you enjoy, or watch CNN or your favorite sport as you do your 15-20 minute workout a couple of times a day.
All this may seems minor in the scheme of things, but 15 minutes, twice a day will add to your fitness level more than you can imagine – and it can be great FUN! The more you move, the better you will feel – plus, you will be less stressed and become more productive.
Build a Healthier Body
Doesn’t this sound great? Well, frankly, it is!
It is a completely new, more-relaxed lifestyle that you can thoroughly enjoy while being your own boss and building a healthier body.
There is no way you can dance around a corporate office for exercise. The best you could hope for to take a quick trip around the perimeter of the office or around the outer halls of the office building – or if you are really dedicated to fitness you could run up and down a few flights of stairs. (Not so appealing to me, how about you?)
Working-at-home gives you lots of freedom to let your internal child have fun and play a little. Life does not have to always be so serious.
Mix it up – work/play – work/play – work/play – enjoy yourself.
