Getting Started Online
Getting Started Online Can Be Challenging
The first few steps you take when you enter the internet marketing arena are very important. They may determine to a large extent whether or not you will succeed in this business.
It is very important to take the right steps and get off to a solid beginning. Give yourself time to explore. Find a strategy that fits your personal style to build your online business.
The thing that makes it complicated is that there are a number of strategies you can use. Choosing a path that works well for you is the key – and there is the possibility that you may make a few false starts before you find one that is a good fit.
Regardless of your choice, give it a fair trial by staying with it for at least one year. Developing a successful online business is not an overnight proposition. It takes time, hard work, focus, and discipline.
Let’s look at some of your choices:
Niche Marketing
This can be a good training ground for novice internet marketers. It is a good way to learn how to do market research, build a website, create traffic for your site and (the big one) sell products.
Article Writing
This is another good place to start. All you have to do is pick a topic that interest you and relates to a product that you want to sell . . . and begin to write articles.
This is also a good way to test products – to find out which products (or types of products) are profitable and which ones are not.
Blogging
This is a good one! All you need is a topic that excites you and that stimulates your imagination enough to share ideas, thoughts, and information with others through your writing.
To be a successful blogger, get a decent ranking on Google, and eventually monetize your blog, you must be consistent in your postings. You will have to update it regularly with useful, quality content.
Blogs were initially used as personal online diaries; but, online marketers quickly realized that they are an excellent way to build a brand and to get the word out about products, (including updates, services, new offers, etc.), and to develop a following.
As a result, blogs have become a powerful advertisement and promotional tool when used correctly.
A secondary benefit (but an important one) is that articles and postings can be easily archived on the blog, which creates an easy search capability for customers and prospective customers to find the information they need about the company, the product, and/or the services offered.
Affiliate Marketing
Once you have successfully established a website and honed your writing skills to the level that you are comfortable making regular updates on your site, you may want to venture into the world of affiliate marketing. Everything you learned from article writing and blogging is transferrable and compatible with affiliate marketing.
This is an effective path to increase your online presence and build a solid online reputation.
It also help you practice driving sales through strategies such as creating squeeze pages that help channel traffic to your site and using “opt-ins” to test methods for lead generation.
Finally, you will be able to hone your marketing research skills.
We will talk more about each strategic path in subsequent posts.
When you get through the learning curve on each path and have everything working well, you will be ready to move ahead on full power – applying all the lessons you have learned.
Get ready to become a master of the fundamentals that will be your framework for success.
