Blogging – The Worldwide Platform
Have you ever considered blogging to share your ideas, information, and talents? It is an open forum – a worldwide platform that anyone can use. Why not you?

Blogging and social networking are inextricably linked in the sense that both contain similar features and properties. Both are aimed at creating a wide reach through multimedia interaction.
Even though it is true that blogs can be regulated and kept very private, the main purpose for most blogs is to reach out and interact with people and used as a medium to voice personal opinions.
Both concepts have existed in cyber space for almost a decade, but in the initial stages both were rather exclusive of one another; but more recently their purpose and intent seem to have merged and their similarity in motives has been recognized.
Blogging is essentially done to channel your thoughts through an online journal . . . and, if you are like most people – you also want other people to read what you have written and even engage in conversation about the topic. It can be quite an exciting adventure as you get in touch with people from all over the world who you would never have known otherwise. The function of social networking is similar and offer particularly appealing platforms for the young and hearty.
A blog was initially called a ‘weblog’ meaning a log or a diary or a journal that helps you to record your thoughts on a day-to-day basis. It did not turn into an instrument for propaganda immediately and continued in that primitive form for a while. However, with its evolution, the term was eventually shortened to blog and free blogging services like Blogger became extremely popular.
We are all aware that blogging today has expanded far beyond the confines of maintaining an online journal. It has become a worldwide platform where people from all walks of life discuss the matters they think are important.
Blogging has also become an important advertising tool for people who wish to market their products online, for politicians who wish to sell their ideologies, and generally anyone who has a desire to reach out to the masses.
The best part is that creating a blog and maintaining it does not require a fortune. Anyone and everyone has a personal blog and it is almost free. One of the most important aspects to me was that you do not have to be a computer engineer or a graphic/web designer in order to create a pleasing blog site.
Unlike a website which operates on a different domain, and for which every single template and tab needs to be designed and created from the scratch, blog sites do not require that kind of expertise. The blogging service providers have their own built-in templates and fonts that can be selected by the bloggers to personalize their blogs.
Blogging is an ideal way to make new friends and come in contact with thousands of people from all over the world. When communicating with such a diverse group there will obviously be differing viewpoints, which opens the possibility of challenging and stimulating discussions and debate where all points-of-view can be considered.
Blogs can also be for the sole purpose of making new friends and socializing – which is where blogs and social media overlap.
It is interesting to note that the word ‘blog’ is both a noun and a verb. This leads us to the fact that blogging helps eliminate the challenge (and hassle) of print publishing. Even though your work will not come out in print, you know that you can self-publish your work – your articles, pictures, videos, etc., through your blog.
In other words – it is an open platform and you can publish as you choose. It may be your own personal journal that you wish others to read or your works of art: stories or articles that you write, or the movies, vocal performances, podcasts, etc., that you make. You can share almost any content with the world at large.
In addition to the fact that you do not have to be a web designer to create your own blog, you also DO NOT have to be a professional writer, film maker or a photographer to publish content on your blog. It is a space for you to indulge in your own artistic pursuits and share those moments with others. Join the adventure today!
