Welcome to My World

Older Woman at Computer

My love affair with writing began when I was 17 (many, many years ago).

During my senior year in high school I took an English correspondence course. That course brought the realization that writing was not only easy for me, I loved doing it.

Graduation followed and I was off to college ready to focus on my writing; but, my excitement was short-lived. My first English professor crushed me with a devastating comment, “You use many words, but say very little.” My confidence was shattered.

It took years to recover from that blow. I kept writing and dreaming quietly about being published as I gained experience in the business world. My professional life had many iterations. The later ones gave me opportunities to write and I used them to hone my craft.

A Dream Realized

Finally, thanks to Amazon, in January 2013 at the age of 74, I self-published my first book, Power Up Your Brain: Five Simple Strategies Because of misguided advice, I wrote it under a pseudonym: J.J.Jackson, but it was still mine.

Over the past six years, I have self-published 27 books on Amazon including a cookbook series, three health and wellness books, plus others – with several more in progress. Four of the books are written under pen names.

All my work is non-fiction. I am more curious than imaginative by nature and have always been interested in the how’s and why’s of life. Even though I love fiction, that has never been my focus and there are others who do it so much better than I. My choice has always been and will continue to be to write about topics that interest and intrigue me and to share what I discover with my readers.
